I spent about a year not reading for health reasons, and I was super excited to get back into reading at the end of last year. Part of that excitement was re-discovering BookTubers and BookTokers and Bookstagramers and part of that excitement was finding information about read-a-thons. And that enthusiasm led to a shopping spree! I try to periodically buy books at various local bookstores (independent and chains) to support book selling businesses. And the past few weeks, I have acquired quite a few new books, so I thought I’d list them and include their covers here. I love a good book haul. 🙂
The Red Winter by Cameron Sullivan – Finished this already. (Bought for a book club.)
Star Shipped by Cat Sebastian – Finished. Bought for a book club I didn’t attend.
Natural History of the World by Tom Jackson – Bought this for the illustrations. Gorgeous.
Graceless Heart by Isabel Ibanez – I bought this because the edges were purple and the cover is shiny.
Heated Rivalry by Rachel Reid – Loved the show so I was curious.
A Radical Act of Free Magic by H. G. Parry – Bought cheap. Didn’t realize it was the second book in a series. 😬
The Nobleman’s Guide to Scandal and Shipwrecks by Mackenzi Lee – Enjoyed the first book in the series.
Between Two Fires by Christopher Buehlman – An epic tale of medieval horror – come on! 🙂
Muse of Nightmares by Laine Taylor – I enjoyed her other series, and I have the first book in this one.
We Used to Live Here by Marcus Kliewer – Heard good things. Not sure about a “haunted house” horror.
Endling: The First by Katherine Applegate – I love her books, and I have the first one in this series.
The Reformatory by Tananarive Due – Sounded like a good horror book.
The Body by Stephen King – Stand By Me is based on this book. I’m about halfway; good so far.
Grave Empire by Richard Swan – Heard really good things about this series.
Steel Gods by Richard Swan. – ^^^
The Wolf, the Duck, and the Mouse by Mac Barnett (illus. by Jon Klassen) – Jon Klassen is a favorite writer/illustrator of mine.
Never Whistle at Night (edited) by Shane Hawk and Theodore C. Van Alst Jr. – Started and it’s already good.
Love Galaxy by Sierra Branham – So curious how I will like this one.
Agnes Aubert’s Mystical Cat Shelter by Heather Fawcett – Cats!
Slayers of Old by Jim C. Hines – BUFFY.
Isabella Nagg and the Pot of Basil by Oliver Darkshire – This sounded weird and fun.
Ornithography by Jessica Roux – I love birds. And mythology.
Braving the Truth by Rachel Held Evans – Rachel Held Evans has a special place in my heart.
